Duncan Watkinson was born and raised in East Sussex. As a child he was convinced that the family dog could understand every single word he said, but was feigning ignorance to preserve the secret for all of Dogkind. He would sometimes try and surprise it with a few words in French, just to see if he could catch it out.
He read the Redwall Saga, The Wind in The Willows and like so many children of his generation, found himself sitting on the sofa slightly traumatised every Christmas while he watched the credits for Watership Down. He doesn’t hold out much hope, but if there’s any justice in the world at all, he sincerely hopes that this book will find a way to make Art Garfunkel cry.
